Visual Identity of 69th Pula Film Festival Presented

The visual identity of the 69th Pula Film Festival was presented today at a press conference held at the Valli Cinema foyer. Director Tanja Miličić, headmaster of the School of Applied Arts and Design Davor Kilman, and the author of this year’s Festival identity Vjeran Juhas spoke at the press conference.

The director said in the introductory part that in line with the tender, 45 proposals were submitted by 31 authors, and that the commission decided unanimously that the proposal which meets the communication quality for the 69th Pula Film Festival is the one from author Vjeran Juhas. Davor Kilman, headmaster of the School of Applied Arts and Design, spoke about the importance of the Festival’s visual identity over the years, that is, the importance of the most talked about poster every year in Pula. The Festival’s visual identity has always been a medium communicating the central event in the city, and the authors are faced with a difficult task in creating it. The clarity, visibility and applicability of the proposal submitted by Vjeran Juhas were crucial arguments in selecting his proposal, said Davor Kilman. He also thanked all the authors who submitted their proposals, and emphasised that a large number of quality proposals have been received.

Author Vjeran Juhas said he was primarily inspired by dialogue, that is, the importance of dialogue as much more than merely a part of a film that is losing the battle with monologue in everyday communication. The selected visual identity shows silhouettes of two faces in conversation, shown as stylised dialogue bubbles, with their form making up the number 69. Additionally, Vjeran Juras said he is extremely pleased that his proposal has been selected, especially as the Festival has always been a part of his life, as an event not to be missed for him and his family.

Director Tanja Miličić concluded the press conference by saying that the promotional material with the visual identity of the 69th Pula Film Festival will be on sale at the info point from 9 July.
