Synopsis

Pasqualino is a deft and sly loverboy and bum from Naples, who has seven sisters. He discovers that the husband of one of his sisters has talked her into prostitution, Pasqualino defends his family’s honour and kills the pimp, which land him in jail. When World War II breaks out, he joins the Italian army, but soon deserts and is captured by the Germans and taken to a concentration camp. To save his life, Pasqualino decides to seduce the camp commandant. However, this brings on the responsibility of selecting six men to be killed under the threat of being killed himself if he refuses.

About the director

Lina Wertmüller(Rome, 1928 – Rome, 2021), film director and screenwriter, known for her dark comedies. She graduated from the Silvio d’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art in Rome. She was the first woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director with her film Seven Beauties.
