Student Programme Awards Presented

The awards in the Student Programme were presented on Thursday 21 July at 9.30 p.m. at the Arena. A total of 26 films have been screened in the Student Programme from Sunday 17 July to Thursday 21 July.

The Student Programme Jury, composed of Jasna Nanut, Ervin Pavleković and Vedran Živolić presented the awards for Best Student Animated/Experimental Film, Best Student Documentary Film, and Best Student Feature Film.

The award for best animated/experimental film was presented to the film Kermes vermilio, directed by Romanian director Tudor Dobrescu.

Jury statement:

The three characters in an abandoned house blend with the surroundings through their performance, taking over various roles. Their different permutations and variety create a multifaceted, layered, and ambitious performance that calls for a repeat viewing.

The award for best documentary film was presented to the film Wait for Me, directed by Damir Markovina. The award was presented to editor Elena Radošević.

The warm, touching, and unexpected humorous documentary achievement Wait for Me, directed by Damir Markovina, shows the author’s utmost sensibility. His shots uncover a family’s intimacy and life unfolding with a transience that leaves behind valuable traces.

The award for best feature film is presented to the film Summer Planning, directed by Romanian director Alexandru Mironescu.

Jury statement:

Director Alexandru Mironescu succeeded in making a very serious film that raises the bar in student production. Summer Planning stands out with its dramaturgic simplicity, mature acting performances, and minimalist directorial approach to family and social crisis.

The jury presents special mention to the film Bustle, directed by Noa Kosanović.

Jury statement:

We give special mention to the Dutch film Bustle, which stood out with the theme of robbery as an excellent genre achievement. It is a concise film, a whole that is rounded in terms of dramaturgy, directing, and production, which reminded us that films like this one, quality films, are what Europe is missing.
